Over 370 individuals receive basic food packs from Yayasan Mesra Selangor

SHAH ALAM, March 6 — Over 370 individuals receive basic food packs donated by Yayasan Mesra Selangor at the 2023 Mesra Selangor Carnival programme yesterday.

State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the beneficiaries consisted of the underprivileged, single mothers and low-income (B40) families in the Ampang parliamentary constituency.

According to her, the programme is also organised to enable various agencies to be nearer to the community in addition to functioning as a local service centre.

“We made this carnival to make it easier for agencies to reach out to the community.

“Today (Yesterday), various services are available here and we are uniting them as a one-stop centre,” she said in her speech during the donation handover ceremony.

During the programme, over 1,000 reading glasses were given for free to visitors, in addition to folk sports competitions and silat cekak, taekwondo and silambam performances.

The carnival, which was held for the first time, also featured exhibitions from various agencies such as dialysis centres, health screenings, Insan, Socso, EPF, PDRM, Fire Department, Ampang Parliamentary Community Services Office, Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS), Yayasan Hijrah and Kohijrah.

Also present were Yayasan Mesra Selangor chief executive officer Zahariman Ariffin, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and Titijaya Berhad chairman Tan Sri Datuk Lim Soon Peng.
