SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has allocated RM8,000 for the purchase of Hari Raya Aidilfitri clothing for 40 orphans of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur (Pekeas) in Rawang.

Its senior general manager of corporate services Sapna Turmidi said the amount will mean each orphan receives RM200 to purchase clothes, at Kompleks PKNS this Sunday (April 2)

“This aid will help to lighten their burdens, and bring them some joy when celebrating Aidilfitri,” she said.

Sapna was speaking at the press conference after officiating the PKNS Ramadan Kasih programme, at PKNS’ headquarters in Section 14 yesterday.

She added that via the programme, PKNS will also organise an iftar meal with all the orphans and their 10 teachers, at the Shah Alam Convention Centre on April 7.

During the ceremony, the corporation will donate RM5,000 to Pekeas, to help it cover the orphanage’s management expenses.

Previously, through Ramadan Kasih, PKNS also organised gotong-royong to clean and paint Pekeas’ home in Bandar Tasik Puteri on March 18.

A total of 30 staff also handed out food to the homeless along Jalan Chow Kit and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kuala Lumpur on March 21.

PKNS has also allocated RM10,000 to distribute food baskets via the Bekal Ramadan Kasih programme to 50 recipients consisting of single mothers, orphans, the poor, and the elderly, on March 26.

Another of its initiative is to organise the distribution of 5,000 packets of bubur lambuk to its staff and members of the public at Kompleks PKNS in stages, starting yesterday, and on April 4, April 6, and April 11.
