SEPANG, March 12 — Owners of one-room homes can resell their assets to the state government if they want to buy a bigger and more valuable house.
State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the move could ensure the supply of houses reserved for single people is always available.
“This housing category is offered for single people because they also want privacy. So, we prepare this home for their comfort. When you get married and want a bigger house, we will simplify the purchase process.
“Resell it back to the state government. The money from the sale can be used for a new house,” she said at a press conference after launching the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang in Sepang yesterday.
Rodziah said the sale of affordable houses will be opened to the public in about three years.
In February she announced the construction of a one-room house in the city area with a maximum price of RM114,750.
The 450 square foot residence, which was introduced through the Rumah SelangorKu 3.0 Housing Policy, will be developed in Shah Alam, Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya.
