KLANG, March 14 — The state government is providing up to RM250,000 in scholarships to 30 youths doing Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) courses at the Carsome Academy starting April.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the scholarship was offered to Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 40, children of Selangor or living in the state for over five years.

He added that other conditions to qualify for the scholarship includes average household income of not more than RM4,000, not working and no fixed income.

“The initiative is in line with the state government’s target to establish close cooperation between the public and the private sector to strengthen the TVET industry in Malaysia.

“Through this programme and a number of other cooperation can help us realise more long-term strategic goals of the state government.

“Therefore, we continue to welcome and support close cooperation with Carsome Academy as a strong partner in supporting TVET aspirations in Selangor,” he said in a statement read by state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han during the launch of the Selangor TVET Scholarship for Carsome Academy students at Carsome Certified Lab, Banday Bukit Raja, here yesterday.

In the statement, Amirudin said Carsome Academy students who successfully graduate could apply for any vacancy there or at any automotive companies.

“Carsome has taken the initiative to form close cooperation with industry partners to get work placements for their students after graduating at companies such as Safeguard, Socar, HZN Cars, Top Body Auto Garage and many more.

“I believe this joint venture will make the programme at Carsome Academy more attractive to our youths,” he added.
