Selangor International Business Summit to be promoted to Southeast Asian countries

SHAH ALAM, March 17 — The Selangor government will visit several Southeast Asian countries to promote the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) this year.

State executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that visits to Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore are expected to be held this April.

“Yesterday (March 15), the Selangor State Executive Council had approved visits to several Southeast Asian countries to attract more participants to SIBS 2023.

“Our aspiration is to make SIBS a business platform, not a (mere) retail sales expo,” he said during the Smart Raya Selangor 2023 initiative press conference, here yesterday.

Teng said the visits are necessary to invite ministers from the relevant countries to be speakers in the various conferences

“This year we are paying attention to inviting ministerial guests from abroad, (that is why) we plan to visit Asean countries.

“It is specifically to meet with ministers, ministry officials, departments and agencies that are related to investments to provide information and invite them to participate in the conference.

“We will most certainly get a minister from an Asean country as a speaker in the conference,” he said.

SIBS 2023 is scheduled at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on October 19 to 22, 2023.

Last year, the conference for industry players to develop enterprises and introduce Selangor as an international investment gateway recorded a transaction value of RM1.45 billion.
