Selangor police deny soliciting sponsorship for 216th Police Day

SHAH ALAM, March 22 — The Selangor Police Contingent have denied a claim that has gone viral on the Telegram application on a letter requesting for financial contributions to sponsor the recent 216th Police Day programme.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussien Omar Khan denied the existence of such a letter, which was shared by Edisi Siasat on the app in question issued by a department in the Selangor contingent, saying that funds of RM50,000 were needed and could be channelled to the account of a company.

“The police would like to advise the public not to share or disseminate any news from unreliable sources.

Anyone caught spreading fake messages or news can face action under the law,” he said in a statement today.
