Seri Kembangan allocates RM20,000 for Ramadan progs

SHAH ALAM, March 30 — The Seri Kembangan state constituency has allocated RM20,000 to implement a variety of programmes throughout the Ramadan fasting month.

Its state assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah said of this amount, RM15,000 was donated to five suraus and one mosque. The suraus each received RM2,000 and the mosque RM4,000.

“The contributions will be handed out in stages, and hopefully this aid will help to ease the burden of the houses of worship in carrying out Ramadan-related activities,” he said when contacted.

Yong added a fast-breaking ceremony with community leaders will also be held, as well as to distribute dates in the Ramadan bazaar and to help the poor and the elderly.

Meanwhile, he also invited Muslim individuals from low-income families to apply for Jom Shopping Perayaan Aidilfitri vouchers.

“The application process remains open, so members of the public can come directly to the Seri Kembangan state constituency community service centre with their relevant documentation. The quota for this year is 500 vouchers,” Yong said.

Applicants must include a copy of their identity card and salary slip together with their partners, whereas single mother applicants must provide a copy of their spouse’s death certificate or divorce certificate.

To apply for Jom Shopping Perayaan Aidilfitri vouchers, applicants must be Muslims voting in the state, with a monthly household income of RM3,000 and under, and are not existing recipients of Skim Mesra Usia Emas and Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor.

Earlier on, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Jom Shopping Perayaan voucher rate would be increased to RM200 from RM100 per family.

Overall, the state government has some 82,400 beneficiaries for the programme, with a RM16.8 million allocation.
