SHAH ALAM, March 17 — Selangor recorded RM60.1 billion in investments across various sectors last year, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Board (Mida).

State executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said of the sectors, the services sector stood the highest at RM47.9 billion.

“Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector recorded RM12.2 billion in investments, with 265 manufacturing projects approved as new projects.

“Of this amount, RM4.64 billion is from local investments while RM7.57 billion is from foreign investments.

“As such, this puts Selangor in second for overall investment in the states in Malaysia,” he said.

Teng was speaking at the wind-up session on the debate over Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s royal address, during the State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

He said around 80 per cent of the approved projects have been carried out over the past three years.

“The figures are high and impressive,” Teng said.
