Set up sub-committee to make sure project under RS-1 runs smoothly

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, March 17 — A sub-committee involving all agencies will be formed to ensure that the three mega projects including the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) runs smoothly.

The project covers the Southern Selangor Integrated Development Region (Idriss), the Sabak Bernam Area Development (Sabda) and the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG), said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the committee will be headed by a state executive councillor, a Selangor state assemblyman or an officer who can examine the projects, in addition to obtaining monthly reports.

“We will involve all agencies so that every little thing can be taken care of. Sometimes, there are procedures that require three to four days. If the project is delayed, we will know,” he said in answer to Sijangkang assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session today.

Amirudin said that 18 out of 262 projects within the five-year development framework of the state have been completed as of last month.

He added that as many as 64 projects are in planning while 180 projects are being implemented to complete the core of economic strengthening, social inclusion, sustainability and good governance.

RS-1 was announced in July last year to form a sustainable and stable economy for the wellbeing of the people in addition to achieving the state’s desire to contribute 30 per cent of the gross domestic product in 2025.
