SHAH ALAM, March 24 — The Bukit Gasing state constituency has chanelled RM24,000 provided by the state government for Ramadan programmes to six suraus and four mosques.
Its state assemblyman’s political secretary M. Kusaaliny said each mosque received RM3,000, while each surau received RM2,000.
“This contribution from the state government is to be used for activities throughout Ramadan,” she said when contacted yesterday.
On Wednesday (March 22), Bukit Gasing state constituency community service centre officer Mohd Razman Bakri presented the donation to 10 representatives of the mosques and suraus during a ceremony at the Jaya Shopping Centre in Section 14, Petaling Jaya.
Meanwhile, Kusaaliny said up to 90 applications have been made for Jom Shopping Perayaan Aidilfitri vouchers to the community service centre thus far.
“Applications remain open as our quota this year is 500 families. The ceremony to present the vouchers will take place on April 9, at the Giant Hypermarket in Kelana Jaya,” she said.
To qualify for the vouchers, applicants must be Muslims who earn a monthly household income of RM3,000 and below, and are not recipients of the Skim Mesra Usia Emas and Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor vouchers.
Prior to this, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Jom Shopping Perayaan voucher rate would be increased to RM200 per family, from its earlier RM100 rate.
Overall, the state government has estimated there will be approximately 82,400 beneficiaries for the programme, to which RM16.8 million has been allocated for.
