State finances remain on solid footing in preparation for economic challenges — MB

HULU LANGAT, March 4 — Selangor’s finances remain firm as a result of the high revenues collected over the past several years, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said this has assisted the state government in dealing with any possibilities that can have economic ramifications.

“We are thankful that Selangor remains consistent and capable of ensuring its revenues are properly collected. For last year alone, we collected over RM2.5 billion, the highest collection of revenue in several years.

“The savings accrued from the revenue collection is useful for us to give back to the people, in addition to the annual programmes we implement. This ranges from Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat to Iltizam Selangor Penyayang,” Amirudin told an assembled audience during his visit to the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang (JKSP) roadshow programme for the Hulu Langat district, earlier today.

Selangor’s revenue for 2022 exceeded its anticipated collection by over RM500 million, the highest in the past five years.

The state is also the largest contributor to the Malaysian economy at 24.8 per cent of the GDP, as a result of stable and strong governance.

Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar said JKSP will carry on in several other districts before the Ramadan fasting month begins (on March 22), and will resume again following the Hari Raya Aidifitri festive period (on April 21).

“The roadshow will progress on to nine different locations, to convey the state government’s initiatives to the people, as well as impart information on the Selangor Budget and the recent Federal Budget,” he said.
