State govt to identify roads for paving starting in March — Exco

By Zareef Muzammil

SABAK BERNAM, March 20 — Selangor will identify roads throughout the state which are under the purview of the local authorities and which require paving, said the state executive councillor for infrastructure and public facilities Izham Hashim.

He said major road paving work will be carried out immediately from this month onwards, with a RM50 million allocation.

“We have already approved (the allocation), and even the methods to be used in the paving work are already in place, all that needs to be done is to carry it out.

“Now the final process is to identify the roads in each district, according to priority. To that, we will hold a meeting in the nearest,” Izham said.

The councillor was speaking at a press conference, following the Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang roadshow programme for the Sabak Bernam district in Bagan Terap, Sungai Besar yesterday.

Separately, Izham said the second phase of installing light-emitting diode (LED) street lights will also take place this month.

“If anyone needs one or two more (LED lights), I will provide it for them,” he said.

On January 16, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a major and comprehensive
road paving project encompassing the maintenance and widening of roads under state management would be carried out.

He also encouraged members of the public to report damaged roads in their communities via Twitter by sending photos, writing complaints and, including the hashtags #infrasel #daerah #namajalan.
