State Legislative Assembly begins today

SHAH ALAM, March 13 — The First Meeting of the Sixth Term of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly commences today.

The opening ceremony for the assembly will take place at 9am, on the grounds of the State Secretariat Building in Section 5.

The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim, the state executive councillors and the state assemblymen will be in attendance.

The session, which will run until March 24, will see Sultan Sharafuddin deliver the royal speech today, after which the session will be adjourned for the day.

A dinner for the State Legislative Assembly members and the Selangor royal family is scheduled to take place later this evening.

When the session reconvenes tomorrow at 10am, the first two to three days will be focused on the debate over His Royal Highness’ speech, followed by over a week of discussing state government policies, and question-and-answer sessions.

The Sixth Term session will be the last for the State Legislative Assembly, before the expected Selangor state elections which is expected to take place sometime in the middle of this year.
