Thunderstorms, heavy rain in six Selangor districts, KL, until 1am tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, March 20 Six districts in Selangor are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong wins until 1am tomorrow, says the Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a post on Facebook today, the agency stated the affected districts are Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang, while similar weather conditions are also forecasted in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Other states also issued the same warning include Pahang (Lipis, Raub and Bentong), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau), Sarawak in Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit, Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang as well as Sabah (Sipitang, Tenom and Nabawan).

According to MetMalaysia, the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read, issued at noon.
