Zakat fitrah in Selangor remains at RM7

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — The zakat fitrah rate in Selangor for this year remains at RM7, RM14 and RM21 per person.

The Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) said the RM7 rate is for Muslims who consume ‘Super Special Tempatan’ rice while the RM14 rate is for zakat payers who consume is ‘Super Import’ rice, brown rice, glutinous rice, herbal ponni and fragrant rice.

“The RM21 rate is for those who consume the basmati rice, Japanese rice, red rice and equivalents,” it said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, LZS also said that a total of 2,642 amil fitrah assistants (PAF) have been appointed in Selangor this year to make it easier for Muslims to pay zakat fitrah during Ramadan.

The payment of zakat fitrah can also be made through 17 amil assistants at institutes of higher education (IPT) and 92 maahad tahfiz and private religious schools in Selangor.

LZS also provides various online payment platforms including EZakatPay, MyEg portal, Pos Online as well as GoPayz and Boost e-wallet applications.

“LZS also opens 18 branches throughout Selangor for seven days a week including public holidays throughout Ramadan from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays, while on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 3pm,” it added.
