SHAH ALAM, April 7 — 10 G1-class contractor companies were awarded with the Public Works Department’s road maintenance tenders in Gombak, valued at RM500,000.

State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the companies have been charged with patching, repairing, delineating, cleaning paths, and trimming trees along the shoulders of the roads.

“A total of 144 contractors vyed for the project, but only 10 were selected by lottery. They will have to handle projects that are worth RM50,000 individually.

“The maintenance works must be completed within three months, so it is our wish the selected contractors will be able to carry out their tasks diligently,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Izham added the voting process was monitored by representatives of the contractor service centre and the Bumiputera Contractors’ Association, to ensure a smooth process.

Earlier on, the councillor said large-scale road paving works throughout Selangor will be carried out by the end of this month, for the safety and convenience of road users.

Izham said the works, costing RM50 million under the 2023 Selangor Budget, will encompass roads under the administration of the local authorities.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has also encouraged the public to report damaged roads in their communities on Twitter, by sending photos, written complaints, with the hashtags #infrasel #daerah #namajalan.

State road maintenance company Infrasel Sdn Bhd has been actively carrying out road repair works within 24 hours of receiving complaints from the public on Twitter.
