AnIS organises Aidilfitri simulation for special-needs children

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — The Selangor Special Needs Children (AnIS) initiative recently conducted a Hari Raya Aidilfitri simulation to help guide special-needs children in understanding festive atmospheres.

In a Facebook post, it said this also serves to expose the children to the practices of Muslims celebrating Aidilfitri.

“Parents can also try doing this at home with their children,” AnIS said.

Some of the simulation’s features included greeting one other, weaving ketupat, and making kuih raya.

The children were also educated on how to pack clothes into a bag, perform their prayers, and how to behave properly when receiving duit raya from their elders.

First introduced in 2018, AnIS is a manifestation of the state government’s determination in prioritising education, including improving the capabilities, of Selangor’s special-needs children.

Prior to this, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government’s commitment would come in form of RM5 million in allocations this year, compared to the RM3 million in previous years.

He said the establishment of a daycare centre for five to six-year-old disabled children will help to ease the burden of less able parents, to an extent.

Close to 100 applications for the first AnIS Preschool, at Section 7 in Shah Alam, have already been made. Currently it has 35 pupils attending classes.

He informed that nearly 100 applications to enter the first AnIS Preschool established in Section 7 here with 35 of them currently attending.
