Bandar Utama readies RM30,000 for mosques to run Ramadan progs

By Diana Abd Wahab

PETALING JAYA, April 2 — The Bandar Utama state constituency has allocated RM30,000 for mosques in its areas to implement various programmes for the Ramadan fasting month this year.

Its state assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the funds were provided to three mosques, with each receiving RM10,000.

“The funds will be used for the mosques to move freely in helping the needy throughout Ramadan.

“We have also prepared allocations for nine suraus in Bandar Utama, with the total allocation subject to the community activities organised by these suraus,” she said.

Jamaliah was speaking after inspecting the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat affordable basic necessities sales roadshow, operated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), at Kampung Cempaka’s basketball court yesterday afternoon.

Separately, she said the state constituency is also working together with mosques to organise a fast-breaking programme with the local community.

Jamaliah, together with the Village Community Management Councils (MPKK), distributed bubur lambuk, kuih-muih, and dates in several localities around Bandar Utama.

“As Bandar Utama has a higher percentage of Chinese residents, we focused our efforts on certain places where Malay residents are the majority, like in Kampung Kayu Ara.

“We are looking to organise more activities and cooperation with the mosques in the area,” she said.
