SHAH ALAM, April 6 — Approximately 7,654 babies born in Selangor last year and until March of this year are eligible to receive RM100 in annual savings until the age of five.

Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor assistant corporate manager Sharizan Mohd Shariff said the application process for the Iltizam Anak Selangor (Anas) initiative remains open to over 20,000 infants, until the end of this year.

“Throughout August last year, we received some 11,712 applications. of which 7,654 were approved. The RM100 in savings have since been deposited to the accounts of 3,170 eligible babies, while the remainder is still being processed,” he said to SelangorKini.

During the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget on November 25 last year, the state government allocated RM3 million for Anas, with a target of 30,000 children to receive RM500.

Each recipient will receive a Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) scheme account, and a National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan later on.

Open since August 1 last year, applications can be made online at anas.yawas.com.my. To be eligible, the infant must be born in Selangor from 2022 onwards, a resident of the state, and a Malaysian citizen.

Similarly, the child’s parents must also be local citizens aged 18 and above, residing in Selangor, and registered voters.
