IRB collects over RM126,000 for Turkiye, Syria quake victims funds

PUTRAJAYA, April 18 — The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has collected funds amounting to RM126,600 through the Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Victims Fund, within 39 days since it was launched on February 17.

The IRB said that the proceeds of the collection have been channelled to the Foreign Ministry’s Disaster Fund (TBKLN) recently, as a sign of support for the victims of the earthquake which hit Turkiye and Syria on February 6.

“We hope this contribution can ease the burden and suffering experienced by the victims involved,” it said in a statement, adding that the fund was one of the agency’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

On February 6, the earthquake and aftershocks in Turkiye and Syria resulted in massive destruction in the affected areas, and the displacement of nearly 2.2 million people, with the death toll reaching 51,000, 17.9 million injured and 195,400 buildings destroyed.
