MBPJ ends road closure, junctions on three main roads today

SHAH ALAM, April 19 — The closure of roads and intersections for the implementation of contra lanes every weekday afternoon along Jalan Othman, Jalan Templer, and Jalan Gasing in Petaling Jaya concludes today.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the council made the decision after its observations during the trial period, which ran from March 1 until yesterday.

“Per the trial period, MBPJ has decided not to continue the closures at the roads and intersections.

“It ends today, April 19, and the contra lanes without road closures and intersections will come into effect on May 2,” he said during the council’s meeting at Menara MBPJ earlier today.

Prior to this, MBPJ announced the closures for a three-month period, spanning the Jalan Othman – Jalan Templer intersection, the Jalan Gasing – Jalan Templer intersection, the Jalan Templer – Jalan 6/29 intersection, and every median opening along Jalan Templer.

The closures were in effect whenever the contra lanes were operational, from 5pm to 7.30pm every day, except on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, and during rainfall.
