SHAH ALAM, April 12 — A total of 2,480 packs of various types of bubur were distributed for free to residents of the Permatang state constituency on Monday (April 10), as a fast-breaking meal.
Its state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin said they include bubur kacang, bubur pulut hitam, bubur candil, bubur cha cha, and bubur lambuk, which were also distributed to frontline workers like the police, firefighters and hospital staff.
“The bubur were prepared by the Traditional Village Community Management Council (MPKK) ) involving 11 villages, in conjunction with the Mega Bubur Permatang programme at Dewan Orang Ramai in Kampung Seri Tiram Jaya.
“Each village took time to carefully prepare its own type of bubur. For this Ramadan, we presented something different as we want youths to be aware of the types of bubur, and not be left behind,” she said.
Rozana added the programme, now in its second year, also served to strengthen the bonds of communal fellowship among the villagers.
“It was enjoyable to see them assist one other in preparing the bubur in under two hours, and I feel such close communal ties ought to be fostered and retained,” she said.
