Op Lancar launched today to ensure smooth traffic flow — Police

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is conducting Op Lancar from today until Monday (May 1) to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on major expressways in the country.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Mat Kasim Karim said the police expected an increase in the volume of vehicles with the return of holidaymakers to their respective destinations following the soon-to-end school holidays and the Labour Day holiday.

“Therefore, to facilitate the movement of road users, Op Lancar is implemented from today until May 1, especially in hotspot areas where there is traffic congestion.

“PDRM is also stationing its personnel at identified locations to ensure smooth and controlled traffic flow,” he said in a statement today.

Mat Kasim said PDRM will also take action to disperse congestion by activating the smart-lane route at several locations on the North-South Expressway through collaboration with PLUS Berhad.

“The locations are at the Port Dickson intersection to the Seremban intersection, North Senai intersection to the Kulai intersection, Gua Tempurung to Gopeng, Slim River to Sungkai and Rawang to Sungai Buaya,” he said.
