SHAH ALAM, April 6 — The Rawang state constituency has prepared a RM35,600 allocation for mosques and suraus in its area to cover their expenses and management during the Ramadan fasting month.
Its state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said of this number, RM2,000 was provided to five mosques each, while 32 suraus each received RM800.
“The funds will cover the expenses and management of the recipient houses of worship, including the cost of their Ramadan programmes or initiatives. We are aware that mosques and suraus are important religious centres for the Muslim community in Malaysia.
“As such I am confident these donations can help the lives of the Muslim congregants,” he said in a Facebook post.
Chua added that order to encourage Ramadan, the state constituency has
organised various activities including distributing bubur lambuk and dates at Rawang’s Ramadan bazaars, and a fast-breaking ceremony with local residents.
