SHAH ALAM, April 3 — Some 850 residents in the Sungai Ramal state constituency have qualified for the Jom Shopping vouchers for Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.
Its state assemblyman Mazwan Johar said each individual received a RM200 voucher, via the initiative.
“The voucher value has been increased to RM200 from RM100, starting this year.
“This is indicative of the state government’s concern for the welfare of the people,” he said in a Facebook post.
Under the 2023 Selangor Budget tabled on November 25 last year, RM16.48 million has been allocated for the Jom Shopping programme and is expected to benefit 82,400 recipients.
It is structured around Malaysia’s three main festivals and is meant for lower-income families to purchase festive goods.
In addition to the value increase the eligibility threshold for recipients has also been changed from a monthly household income of RM2,000 and below to RM3,000.
