SHAH ALAM, May 3 — A total of 15 Mesra Selangor dialysis centres will be operational next year to provide treatment to patients in the state, said state executive councillor for housing, urban wellbeing, and entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail.
She said this number comprises 10 new centres as well as five existing centres, previously known as Pusat Dialisis Rakyat, which has been offering free services since 2010.
To increase the number of centres, they will be started in People’s Housing Projects (PPR) areas, especially in low-cost housing in Klang, Ampang and Selayang.
“Each dialysis centre is expected to benefit about 200 patients monthly based on patient records at previous dialysis centres,” Rodziah told reporters after the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies and the presentation of certificates to Yayasan Mesra Selangor (YMS) volunteers, earlier today.
Earlier, Rodziah witnessed three MOUs between the state government’s subsidiary YMS, and its three strategic partners, namely Gedung Penawar Sdn Bhd for the Mesra Selangor dialysis programme, mudahamal.com for Mesra Qurban programme, and Noble Care Malaysia Sdn Bhd for Pusat Mesra Wargamas programme.
For the Mesra Qurban programme, she said the programme is aimed at creating a platform for the community to buy cows and goats for qurban and aqiqah, as well as for the infaq programme organised by YMS in a door-to-door service starting May 8.
As for the Pusat Mesra Wargamas programme, Rodziah said it is expected that five centres will be built offering care services for those suffering from terminal illnesses and dementia.
