AMPANG JAYA, May 31 – Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has announced that the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) initiative, which offers affordable basic goods, will be extended until September 1.
The Menteri Besar said the extension is to assist local residents, particularly those in the low-income group (B40).
“The state initiated the discounted sales programme on September 1 last year, and InsyaAllah (God willing), the programme will continue until September 1 this year, marking one year since it was introduced,” he said at the launch of the Jualan Mega Ehsan Rahmah 2023 programme at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Multipurpose Hall in Taman Keramat, here today.
Also present was Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.
Amirudin further stated that JER has provided cost savings to the local residents up to RM18 million.
“To date, JER has recorded RM33 million total sales, with total savings of RM18 million for the people.
“If we were to take into account the regular market prices, the total sales should have amounted to RM51 million. But the programme’s discounted prices had brought savings that benefitted the people,” he said.
Amirudin also said that over two million Selangor residents have benefitted from the initiative over a three-month period from September to December of last year, which had then expanded to 1,200 locations since January 16, 2023.
JER offers various goods, including standard chicken priced at RM10 per piece, fresh block meat at RM10 per pack, grade B eggs at RM10 per tray, mackerel fish at RM6 per pack, five-kilogramme cooking oil at RM25, and five-kilogramme rice at RM10.
