Burst pipe repair works begins tomorrow, water cuts to affect 99 areas — Air Selangor

SHAH ALAM, May 21 — The emergency repair works on the burst pipe in Kuala Selangor, which will cause an unscheduled water disruption to nearly 100 areas in three regions, will begin tomorrow morning.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said the works along Jalan Bukit Cerakah in Bandar Puncak Alam will begin at 9am, and is expected to be completed by 3am on Tuesday, May 23.

“The water supply will be distributed to consumers in stages when the repair works are completed and the main water supply distribution system has been stabilised.

“It is expected to fully recover by 9am on Wednesday, May 24. Consumers are advised to store adequate water supply, and use water prudently during the unscheduled water supply disruption period,” it said in a statement today.

The areas are located in the regions of Klang, Shah Alam, and Kuala Selangor. The emergency repair works involve a main distribution pipe with a diameter of 2,200mm and a large-scale distribution area.

“Therefore, the repair works and recovery period will require a longer time. The duration of this water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location of the consumer’s premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

“We will mobilise water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises including hospitals, dialysis centres, and funerals. Alternative water supply assistance through four Local Service Centres (PKS) will be provided for the convenience of consumers in the locations listed as shown,” Air Selangor said.

For commercial customers, it said the purchase of water can be made at Air Selangor’s customer service counters in the Petaling and Kuala Selangor regions. Commercial customers can also use their respective water tanker trucks at three local water filling stations which will be opened in the locations listed as shown.

“Consumers can also obtain information on this unscheduled water supply disruption from time to time via the Air Selangor app, on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter, or contact Air Selangor at 15300.

“Any questions and complaints can be submitted to the Help Centre on the website www.airselangor.com and Air Selangor app,”
