MBI allocates over RM22,000 to help traders affected by Sepang storm

SHAH ALAM, May 1 — Some 112 hawkers affected by the storm in Sepang on April 8 will each receive a RM200 donation from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the donations will go to 67 Ramadan bazaar traders in Putra Perdana, and 45 stall traders around Putra Perdana and Pulau Meranti.

“Each trader will receive RM200,” he told SelangorKini, adding the funds are scheduled to be presented during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration organised by the Sepang state constituency coordinator for the third week of this month.

On Saturday (April 29), about 200 storm-affected families from Sepang received RM500 donations from the state government, presented by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The April 8 incident took place in over 20 locations around Kampung Pulau Meranti, Taman Putra Perdana, and Pangsapuri Angsana in Sepang.

Occurring at 4.30pm, the storm damaged several public infrastructures, mosques, suraus, business premises, and residents’ homes.
