MPAJ prepares recycling machine offering rewards

SHAH ALAM, May 26 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has provided a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) for public use in the lobby of its headquarters.

Its public relations division and its secretariat said the machine accepts recyclable items including plastic mineral bottles, aluminium cans, and tetra pak drink boxes.

Utilising the concept of recycling and redeeming rewards, MPAJ said payment will be credited to the user’s account by scanning the QR code for each item.

“Currently, a total of 4,378 units of plastic bottles, aluminium cans and tetra pack drink boxes have been collected. In total, RM178 has been paid to consumers who carry out the recycling since March 22.

“To this, members of the public, particularly Ampang Jaya residents, are welcome to recycle suitable items and redeem rewards through the RVM machine,” it said.

MPAJ said the rewards can be redeemed via bank apps, in accordance with the current price of goods, including five cents for each plastic bottle and aluminium can.

“The rewards will be directly deposited into the user’s bank account after being verified by the RVM machine,” it said, adding the machine was provided by State Economic Planning Unit (Upen).
