Nine teenage boys arrested over two brawls at school

GEORGE TOWN, May 20 — The police have arrested nine teenage boys for alleged involvement in two fights at a secondary school in Butterworth recently

Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said the boys, eight who are still schooling and one school-leaver, were arrested separately around Butterworth yesterday.

“The investigating officer is recording the statements from them and most probably we will release them on police bail today because they are still students and underage,” he told reporters today.

Khaw said both cases were being investigated under Sections 329 and 147 of the Penal Code.

A 32-second video had gone viral yesterday depicting the two separate brawls in the same school, including scenes of a male student being repeatedly punched and kicked by several students, presumably in a toilet.
