SHAH ALAM, May 17 — Business networks via the export, supply and marketing of local halal products were explored when Selangor entrepreneurs participated in an international expo in Canada.

State executive councillor for the halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the Salon International de l’Alimentation and the Halal Expo Canada promote food and beverages from around the world, which opens up opportunities for local traders including small entrepreneurs, to promote halal products on a wider scale.

“The annual event promotes food and beverages, and has been running for some 15 years now.

“We ran a business network in the export, supply and marketing sector of local halal products in Canada,” he said in a Facebook post.

Locally, the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) is a similar annual event aimed at mobilising and developing the halal industry with RM700,000 allocation from the state government.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said various positive impacts were garnered via business matching activities that enabled both local and international industry players gain knowledge from one another.
