Planned Mesra Selangor dialysis centres to begin operations next year — MB

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, May 10 — 15 Mesra Selangor dialysis centres will commence operations next year, free of charge for patients, to meet their needs in the state, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state government agreed to add 10 new centres, compared to five previously for patients to obtain dialysis treatment.

“A total of 15 Mesra Selangor dialysis centres will operate next year, with an additional 10 new centres to meet the needs of patients in the state, which has been free of charge since 2010,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post.

Previously, state executive councillor for urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said five dialysis centres known as Pusat Dialisis Rakyat have been operating for free since 2010, and have since been rebranded as Mesra Selangor dialysis centres.

The centres will be added starting in People’s Housing Programme locations, particularly in low-cost housing in the areas of Klang, Ampang, and Selayang.

“We estimate around 200 patients monthly will benefit from each dialysis centre that is soon to be developed, which is based on the records of patients at previous dialysis centres,” Rodziah said.
