SHAH ALAM, May 27 — Close to 1,000 children took part in a competition for the best-dressed, as part of Selangor Children’s Carnival 2023.
Organised by the University of Selangor’s (Unisel) Education and Social Sciences Faculty, the programme is set to be recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) collecting the most entries of children’s clothing.
Its dean, Associate Prof Astri Yulia, said the carnival, among others, aims to foster unity from a young age, thus creating a nation with a spirit of patriotism.
“In addition, it also seeks to raise awareness among the community on the importance of early education among children, and the importance of adults appreciating them.

“Through the competition, we want children to be free to make their own choices about the clothes they wear, as they each have different interests,” she told SelangorKini.
Prof Astri was speaking at the opening ceremony for the carnival, which was held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7, earlier today.
The Selangor Children’s Carnival 2023 was also organised in cooperation with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI and Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas).
The two-day event, starting today, features a variety of exciting activities including theatre and musical performances, stall exhibitions, and numerous activities geared towards children.
