KLANG, May 1 — The state’s revenue collection has managed to reach 45 per cent, at RM893.11 million, exceeding the set target as of March 15, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the amount is an encouraging sign, as it was collected within the first three months of the year, compared to the RM2 billion targeted for 2023.

“This is also indicative of the people’s confidence and the Selangor business community in the administration that has led the state for the past five years, as we look towards the state elections.

“Yet we ought not to rest on our laurels, and I hope the confidence evinced by the performance of the state revenue collection will also be translated in the coming weeks and months, InsyaAllah,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking to the guests of the Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri programme, at the Taman Sri Kerayong field in Klang yesterday.

The Menteri Besar added that in the wake of the encouraging revenue collection, the state government announced Insentif Khas Aidilfitri Kita Selangor 2023.

“This incentive not only provides a month’s salary to state government civil servants, but similarly to Federal civil servants including teachers, the police, and others who serve in the Selangor.

“This is the first time it has been carried out in Selangor Darul Ehsan, and is motivated by the successful performance of the state government’s revenue collection in the first three months of this year,” he said.

The open house was also attended by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, with over 10,00 guests. Its dishes were jointly prepared by local residents from several nearby villages.

Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri began on Friday (April 28), and will continue on May 5 at Tapak Agora Night Market in Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat, moving on to Sungai Buloh’s pasar malam site in Petaling on May 6, and to Taman Perwira Sijangkang in Kuala Langat on May 7.

Other locations include Dataran Tanah Lesen in Parit Baru, Sabak Bernam on May 12, Padang Awam Bukit Badong in Kuala Selangor on May 13, and finally at Uptown Sri Gombak on May 14, which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to attend.
