Unity Ambassadors to be appointed in 56 state constituencies, strengthen public understanding

SHAH ALAM, May 28 — Selangor Unity Ambassadors will be appointed in each of the 56 state constituencies to promote the spirit of goodwill and strengthen understanding at the grassroots level.

State executive councillor for unity Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the selection process is conducted by a non-governmental organization (NGO) based on merit and eligibility of the participants.

“We welcome all, especially the youth, who want to become Unity Ambassadors in the 56 state constituencies in Selangor.

“These ambassadors will be responsible for assisting in various initiatives and collaborating with Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) to promote unity,” she said when met following the launch of the state-level Malaysia Madani Unity Week celebration at Taman Tasik Shah Alam, here yesterday.

Dr Siti Mariah said the state government has approved an allocation of RM400,000 for the appointment of the Unity Ambassadors.

She said that the unity-related programmes would be conducted continuously and consistently to foster a sense of harmony among the people.

Earlier yesterday, about 5,000 visitors attended the event as early as 7am to participate in various activities such as the unity run, cultural performances, picnic, and more.

The theme of “Unity in Diversity” celebration will continue today at Taman Tasik Cempaka, Bandar Baru Bangi, with various exciting events.
