HULU LANGAT, May 25 — A total of 20 welfare homes received a RM5,000 grant each from the state government, via the Santuni Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat programme.

Persatuan Jagaan Mahmudah secretary Syafiq Mohiadin said he is thankful for the assistance and the benefits provided to its 45 elderly occupants.

“The government assistance in today’s programme is very helpful in covering the centre’s monthly operating costs, where we need to purchase beds, medicines and food for our residents here.

“I hope the assistance will be continued, as this kind of programme has never been carried out, and we had to source funds from NGOs, corporations, and the local community,” he said.

Syafiq was speaking to SelangorKini after Santuni Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat’s handover ceremony, which was officiated by state executive councillor for social welfare V Ganabatirau, at his centre earlier today.

Meanwhile, Pusat Kebajikan Al-Fiqrah Nurul manager Nurul Atikah Azmi also commended the state government’s concern, which will benefit 70 senior citizens at the centre located in Kajang.

“I would like to thank the state government, as the funds will be able to cover our dependants’ costs including for food and medicine.

“I do hope this assistance will continue, in light of the rising operating costs,” she said.
