TANJUNG KARANG, June 10 – Selangor’s voters deserve a harmonious state administration that works well with the Federal government, following the tumultuous political and economic circumstances that came in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the infamous 2020 Sheraton Move, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Recalling the experience of leading Selangor during that period, he said it was not easy dealing with a ‘hostile’ Federal administration, which he said hindered the state’s effective rollout of vaccination programmes.
“I recall my experience in dealing with the ministers and the government at the time, who were sometimes hostile and prevented us from procuring our own vaccine supply earlier, thus impeding our ability to achieve herd immunity faster.
“The same applies to other aspects of our administration. Every action that Selangor wished to take faced unnecessary scrutiny, even if it was our right to do so.

“Thus, I believe Selangor citizens deserve better. After facing such difficulties together, we deserve peace. That is why we need to ensure the state administration aligns with the Federal government,” said Amirudin, adding the state government should consist of the same political composition as the Unity Government today.
He was addressing a crowd of 2,000 people at the launch of Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s Youth and Women’s wing election machinery for the state elections, held at Kampung Permatang yesterday night.
The Gombak MP also drew a comparison between the Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration led by former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Amirudin, who is also Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman, asserted there were numerous allegations of improprieties surrounding the procurement of Covid-19 medical equipment and other necessities during the latter’s tenure.
This was evident during the recent commotion in the Dewan Rakyat when PN MPs objected to lawmakers discussing the 2021 Auditor-General’s report.
“PN also lacked any leverage or credible arguments to counter Harapan’s administration in Selangor. Instead, they relied on false narratives and misinformation.
“So, let them be, let them play with sentiments because people here can see what is best for them,” he said.
