KPWKM views seriously viral child abuse case in PPR Desa Rejang

PUTRAJAYA, June 9 — The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) views seriously the viral case involving a two-year-old baby girl who has been allegedly abused by a known person at the Desa Rajang people’s housing project (PPR) in the Federal capital.

“The government will not compromise with any offences involving the rights and welfare of children in accordance with the Child Act 2001,” it said in a statement today.

It was reported that the police arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly abused his girlfriend’s baby girl at a flat in Jinjang last night.

KPWKM said that the child has been taken to the hospital for treatment and was now in a safe environment.

“KPWKM, through the Social Welfare Department, will continue to provide appropriate care and protection to children in addition to raising awareness of efforts to protect children through cooperation with various parties,” it said.
