Selangor sponsors eight TVET high-skill progs, special intake session this month

SHAH ALAM, June 5 — The state government is offering funding via Inisiatif Kemahiran Teknikal dan Ikhtisas Smart Selangor (Iktisass), for the special June intake session this year.

Qualified individuals stand a chance at pursuing highly-skilled Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses, at the Selangor Technical and Development Centre (STDC).

It announced that eight programmes are being offered through the initiative, including those related to automotive technology, motorcycles, computer systems, electrical, and air conditioning.

“As well as these, pastry, culinary, and women’s fashion design programmes with certification from the Department of Skills Development (JPK) and STDC are also available.

“Registration fees, training, and accommodations will be sponsored by the state government,” STDC said in a Facebook post.

Applicants must be born in Selangor or residents for at least 11 years, and are aged between 16 and 30.

“Applicants must also pass an interview conducted by the Selangor Economic Planning Unit (Upens), and their parents’ income must fall within the B40 or M40 brackets, subject to terms and conditions,” it said.
