By Azian Aziz

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 — The state government will install self-service sanitary pad machines in five schools with a large number of underprivileged students, by the end of this month.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the installation of the machines, worth RM100,000 each, is part of the menstrual poverty initiative’s first phase.

“Between 100 to 200 underprivileged students will receive free sanitary pads via the self-service machines.”

“Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari will announce the names of the selected schools in a ceremony on June 18,” he said.

Ahmad Azri was speaking during the Coffee Talk dialogue programme, which discussed the state government’s initiatives via MBI, at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 in the World Trade Centre KL yesterday.

He also presented MBI souvenir bags with diaries and books audience members who queried about the state government’s initiatives.
