AMPANG JAYA, Sept 23 — The tree planting initiative at the Ampang Parliamentary constituency will begin in October this year, in line with the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) agenda to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Its MP Rodziah Ismail said discussions have already been held with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), which has agreed to contribute 100,000 saplings to the effort.
“We have discussed it with TNB, and they are willing to donate 100,000 trees for us to plant systematically.
“I formulated this programme, and we will start planting them on World Rivers Day in October,” she said in her speech during the officiation of the Gotong-Royong Perdana programme earlier today, in conjunction with World Cleanup Day 2023, at Taman Bukit Indah Phase Two, Ampang Jaya.
Rodziah added the authorities are prepared to allocate between RM3,000 to RM5,000 to residents’ associations or joint management bodies so that they can improve their respective neighbourhoods.
“I will provide funding for nei improvements, be it planting more trees and so on. Additionally, we can also implement programmes to beautify the back alleys of houses with vegetable gardens.
“We should not just focus on the front of the houses. The back alleys of houses should also be made attractive for community interaction,” she said.
