KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has said the state government’s involvement in the 19th edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) is in line with their mission to enhance the capability of halal products and services on a global scale.

“Since the previous term, we have focused on a new permanent committee to consolidate this industry to a certain level. What is essential is not just introducing products, but also making them a part of the ecosystem.

“Here, people will learn how halal certification is implemented, which is more crucial in ensuring the halal ecosystem can be utilised,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking during his visit to Mihas at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) earlier today, where he launched the Selangor Pavilion.

He was accompanied by the state executive councillor for the halal industry Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief operating officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.

The Menteri Besar signed a plaque to symbolise the launch of MBI’s HIS Toyyiba Sdn Bhd (HIS) handling area and spent time visiting 23 exhibitors.

Hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) and organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Mihas is the world’s largest halal exhibition, bringing together major players in the global halal industry.

Themed Paving the Way of Halal, Mihas showcases the latest trends, technology, and innovations in 13 clusters of the halal industry.

The four-day exhibition, which runs until September 15, is conducted in a hybrid format, combining physical exhibitions with a 24-hour online platform accessible throughout the event.
