Residents live in fear of prowling tiger

GUA MUSANG, Nov 19 —  More than 1,000 residents of the Kesedar Sejahtera Local Community Settlement Project (PPMS) here are living in fear of a tiger suspected to be on the prowl in the oil palm plantation area over the last few days.

Livestock breeder Mohd Nordin Hashim, 39, said he spotted the pug marks of the animal in the Chin Teck Plantation, about 200 metres from the settlement, at about 8.30 pm yesterday.

“Two days ago, there were residents who claimed to have come across the animal near this area. We are worried that our livestock would be attacked by the wild animal.

“We are also concerned about the safety of the residents who sometimes enter the plantation area to look for banana leaves and release their livestock,” he told reporters when met at the Chin Teck Plantation today.

Meanwhile, Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim called for efficient and swift action from the authorities.
