KLANG, Dec 6 — Public cleanliness and community development will be Meru state assemblyman Mariam Abdul Rashid’s primary focus next year as she looks to educate the community on the importance of environmental conservation.
She said two specific housing areas in her constituency will be selected for a pilot project focusing on the issue, namely Pangsapuri Darul Ehsan dan Taman Desa Permai.
“This community development cleanliness programme is meant to increase public awareness of cleanliness and climate change. Among the programmes that will be organised include gotong-royong, recycling, and modern agriculture and farming activities.
“We want to inculcate a culture of cleanliness in the community,” Mariam told the press during the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah programme at Surau Ibnu Rabah, Taman Kapar Setia today.
Separately, she also plans to organise an entrepreneurial programme to assist locals in generating further income.
“On top of that, programmes related to women and youth will also be given attention in Meru,” Mariam said, adding that flood mitigation projects in her constituency are being carried out according to plan.
