SHAH ALAM, May 17 — Selangor FC has thanked the various local authorities in the state which have come out in support of its winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim, the victim of a recent acid attack.
In a Facebook post yesterday, it listed a number of city and municipal councils which put up social media posts as well as print and electronic billboard signs supporting Faisal.
“The support from everyone has been overwhelming and we greatly appreciate every single one of you.
“Special thank you to all Selangor City Councils, namely Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, Majlis Daerah Sabak Bernam, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, Majlis Perbandaran Kajang, Majlis Perbandaran Selayang, (and) Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor.
“(As well as) Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya, Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang, Majlis Perbandaran Hulu Selangor, Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat, Majlis Perbandaran Sepang, and Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya for your never-ending support,” Selangor FC said.
Similarly, it called upon all Red Giants supporters to come on down for the club’s upcoming 2024–2025 Malaysia Super League match against Kedah Darul Aman FC tomorrow at 8:15pm, at the Petaling Jaya Stadium.

“Let us continue showing our support at the #SFCKDA match this coming Saturday. Have you gotten your tickets yet? Grab em now at TicketHotline.com.my or click the link in our bio,” Selangor FC said.
The national football scene was shocked when Faisal was splashed with acid by an unknown individual at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on May 5, causing him to suffer fourth-degree burns and affecting his movements and speech.
After undergoing a series of surgeries and skin grafts, the winger is currently recuperating after being moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a normal ward of a private hospital.
Faisal’s attack was the second such incident after Terengganu FC loan player Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid was attacked by two robbers at his residential area in Kuala Terengganu on May 2.
Later, on May 7, Johor Darul Ta’zim player Safiq Rahim was assaulted by two men on a motorcycle who smashed the rear window of his car with a hammer in Johor Bahru.
