SHAH ALAM, June 13 — Selangor FC (SFC) winger Faisal Halim’s lawyer, Mohd Haijan Omar, said he will send a letter to police requesting an update on the investigation into an acid attack against the footballer.
The lawyer, representing SFC, said police have two weeks to provide Faisal with an update, as the Penang-born player has been kept in the dark for nearly a month.
However, he said he believes in the force’s credibility and professionalism to make sure the offenders are brought to justice.
“The Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) provides for the complainant to be updated on the progress of the case as per section 107A of the CPC … as we all know, the case has been going on for a month and we are entitled to be updated.
“We will be writing officially to the police for the updates of the case and the police have two weeks to update us. Whether the updates can be informed to the public is yet to be seen, but we will of course do what is necessary,” he told a press conference at Faisal’s first public appearance after the attack.
Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns after being attacked with acid by an unknown assailant at a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya on May 5.
On May 25, SFC confirmed the winger was released from a private hospital here after undergoing four surgeries due to the incident.
