SHAH ALAM, June 19 — Resolving the traffic congestion issue from the Shah Alam Expressway towards the Kota Kemuning roundabout is a priority for this term, said its state assemblyman S. Preakas.
He plans to propose the construction of a flyover and alternative roads to address the congestion in the state constituency.
“Residents have complained that it takes between one to two hours to get through the congestion at the roundabout.
“According to a study by the Shah Alam City Council, the construction cost for two flyovers and alternative roads amounts to RM50 million. I hope the state government will pay full attention to the matter,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.
As a short-term measure, Preakas has requested an increase in the number of Smart Selangor Bus service routes to encourage the public to use public transportation.
“In addition, it facilitates the residents’ transportation needs. For example, many who seek services at the Meru health clinic have to switch buses as there is no direct route from Kota Kemuning,” he said.
Preakas is also focusing on improving road facilities in the Bukit Kemuning area, which has a high accident rate.
“Discussions have been held with the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) to repair potholes and maintain street lights in the area.
“I hope that JKR can assist as soon as possible for the well-being of the residents,” he said.
