MBI seeks discussion of haj incentives channelling with Tabung Haji

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, July 19 — Discussions will be held with Lembaga Tabung Haji on increasing the Muassasah Haj Incentive to RM2,000 for Selangor pilgrims starting from 2026.

Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI chief executive officer Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said that next month’s meeting will also focus on the mechanism for channelling contributions to facilitate pilgrims’ spending and provide for their needs.

“We are in the process of increasing the contribution. InsyaAllah, next month, we will meet the state Tabung Haji director to find the best way to assist pilgrims.

“Perhaps we will channel RM1,000 in cash directly and credit the remainder into their account or develop an app to facilitate their spending.

“This may be the approach we will introduce, but it has not yet been decided. We will consider all aspects,” he told SelangorKini.

On Sunday (July 14), Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the incentive will be increased to RM2,000 in 2026 compared to RM1,000 currently.

Meanwhile, Azri urged this year’s pilgrims who have not yet made the relevant claims to apply immediately by visiting their respective state constituency service centres.

“So far, only 3,000 pilgrims have applied and received their contributions. There are still half who have not yet applied.

“Therefore, pilgrims who have just returned or will be returning should submit their applications,” he said.

This year, the state government has also increased the Muassasah Hajj Incentive from RM500 to RM1,000 using a RM6 million allocation, benefiting 6,000 pilgrims.
