SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The state is considering establishing a traffic research and data analysis centre as a long-term measure to address congestion.
State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said the Selangor Mobility Lab, formulated with artificial intelligence, will gather real-time data on vehicle movements and public transport services in the state.
“The state government has approved in principle the suggestion to establish a Selangor Mobility Lab under the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation.
“It is also a solution to traffic congestion on main roads and hotspots in Selangor,” he said at the debate wind-up for the First Selangor Plan mid-term review at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday.
Ng also said the federal government supports the establishment of the Selangor Mobility Lab as it will positively impact public transport management without funding from Putrajaya.
He said Smart Selangor Bus routes will be realigned in the fourth quarter.
“The state government will redraw Smart Selangor Bus routes and develop a master plan.
“Selangor Mobility is based on existing data (in programmes) such as the Smart Selangor Intelligent Transport System, demand-responsive transit vans, and pedestrian walkways,” he said.
